THERE ARE LESSONS
Lessons never lessen.
They build.
Experience creates character.
Once healed.
And healing never ends.
Growing is permanent.
After pain comes understanding.
That’s what furthers you.
Some lessons are temporary.
They can be undone.
It’s only after a one-day decision.
You need to surpass the numb.
That strange feeling of no return.
Of a life that can no longer be lived.
Accept that door is closed.
But from it there’s opportunity to give.
To forgive and to nourish.
Both yourself and the teachings.
Share the message.
Begin the preaching.
Treat that lesson like a son.
Like the first time they try to walk.
You must nurture it. Further it.
You must talk.
In sharing there is solidarity.
Transcending judgement of self.
In releasing there is freedom.
In honesty there is health.
For grief is not a prison.
Nor regret a final home.
The deepest wounds can still become
The places from which we grow.
There are lessons in the breaking.
Lessons in what remains.
And sometimes what first feels like loss
Becomes the thing that changed.
